Get yourself organized and connected with Now Up-to-Date & Contact
The latest version of NUDC (4.1) is carbonized (requires the X.1 update) for everyone who took the plunge into the aqua world of the new Apple OS. Anyone using OS 8 or 9.x can use the 4.0.3 version, which is identical in features.
This is the first major update to the program in since 1995 – before Power On Software took over NUDC from Now! Software. The upgrade to 4.x is certainly worth it. While there aren’t any earth-shattering new features (the new GUI is the biggest), it is a solid update that enhances the use of the Internet (quickly get directions to a meeting, find restaurants and reviews, etc. from Contact) and allows more user customization of fields, etc.
One great new feature is Grab-N-Go, which lets you highlight text in another app (Office, IE, or from an Email), Control+Click and send the text to NUDC to create a new appointment, To Do, and more. The one thing it doesn’t do is create a new contact (bummer), but Power On claims it’s coming.
NUDC has all that you need to keep up with your business and personal life – Palm sync, shared calendars and contacts via TCP/IP (new), export to HTML, and more. One of my favorite features is QuickDay and QuickContact, which allow you to see and find contacts and appointments from your desktop menu bar without having to launch NUDC.
The QuickPad app lets you type a phrase such as “lunch w/ Kevin Spacey, Tuesday” or “remember to repair the dog, Friday”, and then creates a calendar item for you automatically. Many more features make this a solid buy.
